Terms of use

These terms cover the 6 free tools on this site and the files they export. The short version: the tools are free to use including for paid work, the exports are yours, the lettering is licensed for commercial use, and nothing here replaces a tattoo artist’s judgment about your skin.

Using the tools

The tools on Inkantic are free to use, including for work you are paid for. Files you export are yours: you can send them to a tattoo artist, print them, or use them as part of a commissioned design without asking us.

Fonts

The lettering faces are third-party fonts: 21 under the SIL Open Font License, three under Apache 2.0. Either license covers the output you create with them, including commercial use. The two differ on the files themselves: the Open Font License forbids selling them on their own, while Apache 2.0 permits it and asks instead that the notices travel with the files.

This site does serve those font files: the lettering and ambigram tools load them into your browser, which is what makes the previews possible. The copyright notices and the full text of both licenses travel with them and are published at font-licenses.txt.

What this site is not

Guidance here about sizes, placements and how ink ages is general information gathered for people preparing for a consultation. It is not medical advice and it does not replace your tattoo artist's judgment about your skin, your placement and your design. A permanent decision deserves a professional opinion in person.

Availability

The site is provided as is. We aim to keep the tools working and free, and there is no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. See privacy for what happens to the data you enter, which is: nothing leaves your browser. Who writes and maintains all of this is on the about page.
